Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met and held a banquet for Her Royal Highness Princess Pilolevu Tuita of the Kingdom of Tonga, Mr. And Mrs. Latu, Tongan Ambassador to China and her delegation at CPAFFC on September 16, 2013. In the meeting, Mme Li emphasized that HRH Princess Pilolevu has been an old friend of Chinese people, worthy of the name “Friendship Ambassador”. The many visits between the two countries showed the great importance attached by both sides to China-Tonga relations. Mme Li pointed out that, the fifteen years since the normalization of China-Tonga relations had witnessed the smooth development of bilateral relations and the deepening cooperation in the fields of politics, trade, and culture, etc.. In this process, a great many positive efforts had been paid by the non-governmental organizations. HRH Princess Pilolevu expressed her thanks to Mme Li for her reception. She said, the aim of the delegation was to enhance the bilateral relations, promote humanistic and economic communication, further consolidate and develop Tonga-China relations and continue to push forward the steady development of friendship between Tongan and Chinese people.

On September 13th, President Li Xiaolin met with the U.S. Michigan delegation headed by Mr. Rick Snyder, Governor of Michigan. President Li said there is huge room for cooperation between China and Michigan, and CPAFFC would like to facilitate the friendly exchange and practical cooperation between the two sides. President Li hoped to work with Council of Great Lakes Governors where Governor Snyder serves as co-chair to promote dialogue between U.S. governors of the Great Lake region and Chinese governors from the central and western area, in the efforts to seek opportunities for win-win cooperation. Governor Snyder thanked President Li for hosting the meeting, and agreed to help promote exchanges between U.S. and Chinese governors. ? On September 11th, President Li Xiaolin met with the U.S. delegation composed of presidents of historically black colleges and universities. President Li introduced the major functions and vision of CPAFFC, and wished to work with colleges and universities where the delegation members come from to carry out youth exchange between China and the U.S., so as to enhance mutual understanding between the young people and lay a solid foundation for China-U.S. friendship and cooperation. President Li expressed sincere appreciation on the work done by Kim Young Aeh who was being engaged in developing friendly exchanges between China and Korea. She also hoped that Kim Young Aeh would continue promoting the friendly communication and common development for the people of the two countries. ? President Kim Young Aeh expressed again that strengthening the friendship and promoting common development between the two countries?were her wishes.?It was?a good opportunity to develop the friendship between China and Korea in this year. In her speech, President Li introduced the history, function of the CPAFFC?and the work of the international friendship cities to over 150 representatives from 14 countries. She pointed out that this forum was an important cooperation between the UCLG ASPAC and China member cities, and also hoped that city representatives, experts and scholars from China and other countries would be able to take advantage of the important platform to communicate thoroughly, discuss the urbanization experiences and share the urbanization achievements. ? 2013 City Infrastructure Forum was sponsored jointly by CPAFFC, UCLG ASPAC, Chongqing Municipal Government and “ City Today” magazine. President Li watched the demonstration of the project management system developed by IBM for China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, which was established by CPAFFC in 1996. President Li spoke highly of the system, which she believes will be conducive to standardizing the management of CFFPD and increasing its transparency of financial information. Vice President Zhou Yi thanked President Li Xiaolin for her hospitality. On August 23rd, 2013 Mme. Li Xiaolin, the president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, ON, MP, Prime Minister of Jamaica in Peace Palace. President Li extended her warm welcome to Prime Minister Miller and her party, and recalled her joyful experience of visiting Prime Minister Miller in year 2007 when she visited Jamaica with Mr. Cheng Siwei, the president of China-Latin American and Caribbean Friendship Association. President Li said, since China and Jamaica established diplomatic relations 41 years ago, the bilateral relationship of the two countries had been developing steadily; the friendly cooperation in politics, economy, trade and culture had been deepened. As one of the most active friendship-to-China organizations, Jamaica-China Friendship Association made great contribution to the above mentioned achievements. President Li also briefed the delegation about the work of the CPAFFC Prime Minister Miller thanked President Li Xiaolin for her hospitality. She highly evaluated Jamaica-China relation and the long lasting friendship between the two peoples. She expressed that the Jamaican government and people would cooperate to give an all-around impetus to the pragmatic cooperation with China in fields of economy, trade, humane culture, sports, environmental protection and media. On August 22nd 2013, H.E. Mr. Kwon Young-se, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to China hosted a luncheon for CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin and Mr. Wang Jianzhou, President of China-Korea Friendship Association. President Li briefed Ambassador Kwon about her visit to ROK last month, especially the meeting with ROK President Park Geun-hye. President Li said that the deepest impression left on the Chinese delegation was the emphasis given and active endeavors made by the Korean people, from top political leaders to grass-root masses, on developing the China-Korea friendship relations in a healthy way. The CPAFFC would join in the efforts with the Korean side to make constant achievements of cultural, economic, trade, and youth exchanges. President Li also expressed gratitude to Ambassador Kwon for his support and assistance in her visit to Korea. Mr. Wang Jianzho said that the China-Korea Friendship Association would contribute more to the development of economic and trade relations between China and Korea as the two economies complemented each other. Ambassador Kwon Young-se congratulated President Li for her visit to Korea and assured her of full support by the Korean Embassy in Beijing to coordinate with the CPAFFC and further enhance mutual cooperation, especially in youth exchanges, for carrying forward the Korea-China friendship generation after generation.

On 22nd August 2013, President Li met with President of Vietnam-China Friendship Association Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and his delegation. President Li expressed welcome to Mr. Nguyen and said that we would never forget the “comrades and brothers” relations founded by the past generations of China and Vietnam. No matte how the world situation changed, the China-Vietnam friendship should stand all tests and become even stronger.? The main tasks of the CPAFFC were to consolidate friendship between Chinese people and people in other countries, to safeguard world peace and to promote international cooperation and harmony. The series activities hosted by the CPAFFC and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, like people’s gala, people’s forum, Bring-light tour and so on, should be strengthened. There was a Chinese saying that “a near neighbor is better than a distant relative”. China and Vietnam were neighboring countries connected by mountains and waters.? The two sides surely could further mutual trust, deepen cooperation, attain common prosperity and achieve win-win development. Mr. Nguyen said that during the visit to China in June 2013 by Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang, the two sides issued a joint declaration emphasizing political mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation.? The Vietnam-China Friendship Association would join in the efforts with the CPAFFC to implement the agreements of the state leaders and promote mutual understanding between the two peoples by holding various activities. Mr. Nguyen invited President Li for a visit to Vietnam and President Li accepted with gratitude.
