President Li Xiaolin Meets with Indian Ambassador Kantha
On the morning of July 30th, President Li Xiaolin met with H.E. Ashok K. Kantha, Indian Ambassador to China.
President Li briefed the guests about the events for the celebration of 60th anniversary of the CPAFFC, the commemorations for the 60th anniversary of the initiation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, as well as other bilateral people-to-people exchange projects organized by the CPAFFC. President Li recalled that at the conference marking the 60th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the establishment of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence Friendship Award in the purpose of facilitating and encouraging more personals and organizations to carry on the spirits of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and the CPAFFC intends to confer the first group of this Award at an appropriate time. She also expressed the willingness to promote twinning of second group of China-India friendship cities. Both programs shall be in need of support and assistance of the Indian Embassy.
Ambassador Kantha thanked President Li for meeting him despite her busy schedule. He hoped to obtain more information about the Friendship Award. He also pointed out that it is of greater significance to look forward to future and further expand people-to-people exchanges. Therefore, he suggested closer cooperations with the CPAFFC with efforts to enhance bilateral exchanges in tourism, youth, education, media, twinning of the second group of China-India friendship cities.
President Li Xiaolin Meets with Neil Bush
On July 29th, President Li Xiaolin met with Neil Bush, the third son of the 41st U.S. President George H. W. Bush and the younger brother of George W. Bush, the 43rd U.S. President. The two sides held discussion on co-hosting George H. W. Bush 6th Biennial China-U.S. Relations Conference next year. They also exchanged views on China-U.S. relations and international hot spot issue.
President Li Xiaolin Signs Agreement with National Union of State Legislatures
On July 17th, President Xi Jinping and the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff attended the signing ceremony of Framework Cooperation Agreement Between China International Friendship Cities Association and the National Union of State Legislatures. CPAFFC president Li Xiaolin and UNALE president Jose Luis Schafer signed the Agreement on behave of their associations respectively.

Both sides agreed that on the basis of mutual respect and interests, the two associations will launch a series of programs to promote the local governments and cities exchange and cooperation between Brazil and China. For the purpose of implementing this Agreement, the parties shall establish a joint follow-up mechanism.
As a breakthrough point, the signing of the Agreement lays a solid foundation for our Association to fully start the local governments cooperation between China and the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, Indian, China and South Africa) and Latin-American countries.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Samoan Ambassador to China
On July 10th, President Li Xiaolin met with H.E.Mr.Tapusalaia Toomata, Samoan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China.
President Li extended gracious welcome to Ambassador Toomata and briefed him on the commemorative events for the 60th anniversary of CPAFFC. She remarked that the mutual exchanges and cooperation with South Pacific island countries stands out as an important part of work for CPAFFC. We would like to promote exchanges and cooperation between localities and cities from both countries based on the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, to achieve win-win situation in various fields of economy and culture, etc.?
Ambassador Toomata thanked President Li for meeting him and briefly reviewed upon the friendly exchanges between Samoa and CPAFFC. Ambassador Toomata noted that they would like to establish ?Samoa-China Friendship Association so as to deepen traditional relations of friendship with China. In addition, he discussed the possibility of Apia twining friendship city relations with Guangzhou and Shenzhen. In addition, He suggested that CPAFFC may send delegations to attend the International Conference on Small Island Developing States, as it will be held in Apia, Samoa at the end of this August. Finally, the Ambassador remarked that the Samoan Embassy would like to work closely with CPAFFC to celebrate the 40th anniversary of China-Samoa diplomatic relations next year.?

President Li Xiaolin Meets With Lieutenant Governor of Nevada of USA

On July 8th, President Li Xiaolin met with Mr. Brian Krolicki, Lieutenant Governor of Nevada, USA and his delegation. President Li introduced the development of China; the programs conducted by CPAFFC between China and the U.S including the photo exhibition “Salute to Friendship-Images Narrate China-U.S Collaboration During World War II” . Lt. Governor Krolicki stated that this year marke the 10th Anniversary of the Nevada Commission on Tourism China Office. He thanked CPAFFC for always being greatly supportive for the exchanges between Nevada and China, and he is? willing to continue to make efforts to enhance the mutual understanding and cooperation between Nevada and China as well as the U.S and China.

President Li Xiaolin met with Eckart von Klaeden, Global Vice-President of Daimler AG in Beijing On July 8th,2014.
President Li Xiaolin welcomed Mr. Eckart von Klaeden to visit Chinese People''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) again. She introduced the series activities celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of CPAFFC and the cooperation programs developed with Germany in urbanization and youth exchanges.
Mr.Eckart von Klaeden expressed that to support the economic and social development of China has become one of the important targets of foreign enterprises in China. He hoped to promote the relationship between China and Germany through the cooperation with CPAFFC.
After the meeting, President Li Xiaolin signed a Letter of Intention for cooperation between CPAFFC and Daimler AG with Vice-President Eckart von Klaeden.?

President Li Xiaolin Accompanies Prime Minister Najib of Malaysia to Attend 2014 Beijing Malay International Seminar
On the morning of May 30th, the visiting Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia attended the opening ceremony of the 2014 Beijing Malay International Seminar marking the 40th Anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic ties. The Seminar is co-hosted by CPAFFC and Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin, Vice President Feng Zuoku, BFSU Party Secretary Han Zhen and President Peng Long attended the event with other 200 participants.
Prime Minister Najib made a keynote speech at the seminar. He thanked CPAFFC and other host and sponsors for the support of the event, looked back the history of the people-to-people exchange history of the two countries and made positive comments on the fruitful bilateral relations since its establishment 4 decades ago. Prime Minister Najib said that after 40 years development, the Malaysia-China relations, which has crossed two generations, will be furthered and expanded. He hope that the two civilizations continue to have exchanges and learn from each other and make due contributions to the peace and prosperity of the humankind.
President Li said that Prime Minister Najib’s visit to China and the attendance to the series celebration activities marking the 40th anniversary of bilateral ties showed his great importance attached to the China-Malaysia relations and firm determination to promote it from generation to generation. President Li said that the CPAFFC will join the concerted efforts from the Malaysian side, continue to further the people-to-people communication and cooperation between the two countries in various fields and make unremitting efforts to make the China-Malaysia friendship prosperous and deep-rooted.
After the opening ceremony, the VIPs from the two counties planted the friendship tree together.
President Li Xiaolin Meets Ota Akihiro, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
On June. 27th, CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin met with the delegation headed by Mr. Ota Akihiro, the Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Wang Xiuyun, Director-General of Department of Japanese Affairs and Vice President of China-Japan Friendship Association, H.E. Mr. Kitera Masato, the Japanese Ambassador to China were present at the meeting.
President Li Xiaolin extended her welcome to Minister Ota, and highly praised the years’ efforts and contributions made by New Komeito (New Komei Party) and Minister Ota, on improving China-Japan relations. President Li said, China and Japan are neighboring countries with long lasting history of friendly contact, separated only by a strip of water. But it is distressing that China-Japan relation is now at the most difficult period since the normalization of the diplomatic ties between the two countries, because of a series of wrong words and deeds of the Japanese government and leaders. The older generation of the leaders of the two countries used to fight each others at the war, but for sake of fundamental and long-term interests, they still could disregard their enmity and swear No War between China and Japan Anymore, thus finally realized the normalization of the diplomatic ties of China and Japan. She wished the Japanese national leaders to make pragmatic efforts, to properly handle the current problems jointly with China, and push China-Japan relations back to normal track as soon as possible.
President Li said, since the CPAFFC was established 60 years ago, it has been always engaged in enhancing the friendship between the Chinese people and the world and safeguarding the world peace. It established cordial cooperations and deep friendship with the Japanese friendly forces from various circles, including Soka Gakkai (Value-Creating Education Society) and New Komeito. In the future, the CPAFFC will continuously promote friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between China and Japan, and dedicate to improving the development of China-Japan relation.
Minister Ota thanks President Li for taking time for the meeting in her tight schedule. He said, “as a political party of pacifism, the New Komeito alway insists Japan should be a country of peace. We should cherish the friendly relation between China and Japan, which was established through the hard work of the older generation. We also have responsibility to pass their spirit to the younger generation. New Komeito and I myself would like to play more important roles in improving Japan-China relations.
President Li also briefed Minister Ota about the status of the conference marking 60th anniversary of the establishment of the CPAFFC, and CPAFFC’s present nongovernmental diplomatic works on the Japanese affairs.
President Li Xiaolin Meets with CEO of Carter Center
On June 19th, President Li Xiaolin met with the delegation headed by John Hardman, CEO of Carter Center, USA. The two sides discussed on the preparation work for the China-US Relations Forum which is scheduled later this year, and exchanged ideas on cooperation for the celebration event for the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and the US.
President Li Xiaolin Meets with VIPs of the Second China-Poland Forum on Local Cooperation
On June 10, CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin met with VIP guests attending the Second China-Poland Forum on Local Cooperation.
Li welcomed the Polish friends coming from afar, and introduced the history and missions of CPAFFC, as well as the development of friendly cities and city diplomacy. Li hoped that practical projects on cooperation between Poland and China would come along with the forum.
Marcin Kubiak, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development expressed gratitude towards Li. He briefly introduced the economic performance of Poland, and regarded regional cooperation as an important part of China Poland Strategic Partnership. Poland highly values the exchange between cities and provinces of China and Poland, and cooperation have been conducted in fields of economy, education and science. Many Polish deputy ministers came to attend the forum and looked forward to deepened cooperation with Guangdong Province and other regions of China in trade and investment.
