President Li Xiaolin Meets with President U Sein Win Aung of Myanmar-China Friendship Association

On July 1st, President Li Xiaolin met with U Sein Win Aung, President of Myanmar-China Friendship Association (MCFA) and former Myanmar Ambassador to China. Vice President Lin Yi of CPAFFC and President Geng Zhiyuan of China-Myanmar Friendship Association attended the meeting.
President Li said that, I visited Myanmar in 2013 and was warmly received by MCFA. The China-Myanmar relations have witnessed constant development in recent years. The CPAFFC is willing to join efforts with MCFA to deepen the "paukphaw" friendship between China and Myanmar and promote the construction of “the Belt and Road Initiatives”, so as to realize win-win cooperation.
U Sein Win Aung said, the friendship between Myanmar and Chian was fostered by the older generation of out state leaders, including the father of President Li Xiaolin. No matter how the current world situation changes, Myanmar will not change its friendly foreign policy towards China. The MCFA will work with Chinese side as always, to promote cooperation in various fields such as education, culture and youth, in a bid to strengthen the building of connectivity and implement “The Belt and Road Initiatives”.
President Li Xiaolin Meets with President of Malta China Friendship Society

On June 30th, President Li Xiaolin met with Mr. Reno Calleja, president of Malta China Friendship Society. The two sides exchanged views on? exchange in the fields of education, local government and religion. President Li briefed Mr. Calleja on CPAFFC’s plan to hold the conference on China - European mini-States cooperation and invited him to attend and sought his suggestions on the conference. Mr. Calleja expressed his support and willingness of attendance, and extended a invitation to President Li for her to visit Malta in 2016.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with the Delegation of Asian-African Issues Research Association of Japanese Liberal Democratic Party

On June 30, President Li Xiaolin met with Noda Takeshi and his delegation of Asian-African Issues Research Association of Japanese Liberal Democratic Party.
President Li Xiaolin extended a warm welcome to Noda Takeshi and his delegation which consists of congressmen. She said, China attaches great importance to the delegation’s visit and Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, met with the delegation on June 29. The communication between the delegation and the Chinese relevant authorities in recent days must have enhanced the mutual understanding and reached positive achievements. China and Japan are neighbors who cannot move house, and interests of both countries are blended. Cooperation with each other conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples. Cooperation is the only way to reach win-win result. China and Japan are close neighbors who have so many communications with each other, yet the two countries cannot share the same opinion on many issues. Such situation should be deeply considered and well studied. This year is the 70th anniversary of Victory of World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People''''s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Japan should follow the spirit of the Four Political Documents between China and Japan, to properly deal with historical issues in a correct attitude. Re-adjustments of Japan''''s security policy are being concerned. Japan taking the road of peaceful development is our wish. CPAFFC would like to enhance the communication with Asian-African Issues Research Association of Japanese Liberal Democratic Party, to work together to improve the relationship between China and Japan.

Noda Takeshi said, the delegation is very glad to meet with Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the CPPCC. CPAFFC works for people-to-people communication between Japan and China in long term, and the performance of Crested Ibis is very successful in Japan. Four Political Documents between the two countries are the basis of Japan-China relationship. Japan should seriously reflect on history, and never let historical tragedies happen again. Japan does not regard China as a rival. Moreover, Noda Takeshi expressed that, as a person who has the gene of friendly Japan-China traditional relationship, he will continue to make effort to improve Japan-China relationship.

On June 29th, CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin met with Dr. Bhoin Bhalakula,President of Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association,and his delegation. Ms.Lin Yi, Vice President of CPAFFC attended the meeting.
President Li expressed warm welcome to Dr. Bhoin Bhalakula,reviewed the friendly cooperation with Thai-Chinese Culture and Economic Association and hoped the two associations take the opportunity of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue? next year to organize a series of activities with Thailand,thus to further ASEAN people’s understanding on “the Belt and Road Initiatives”.
Dr. Bhoin Bhalakula highly praised the strategic vision of “the Belt and Road Initiatives” proposed by China, expressed the willingness to actively promote the exchanges in fields of people-to-people, culture and economy between the two countries,and hoped to continue co-hosting the “Thai-Chinese Young Executive Program” with CPAFFC.
President Li Xiaolin Meets with Director General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization
On June 11th, President Li Xiaolin met with Mr. Li Yong, Director General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
UNIDO was founded in 1966, with the aim of assisting developing countries to realize sustainable industrial development. China and UNDIO have enjoyed sound and long-term partnership through fruitful cooperation in the areas of promoting sustainable industrial development, renewable energy as well as environmental protection. Mr. Li Yong was the former Vice-Minister of Ministry of Finance of China. He was elected Director General of UNIDO in 2013.
President Li Xiaolin briefed Director General about the cooperation between CPAFFC and United Nations as well as other international organizations. She also introduced the progress we have been made in “Every Woman Every Child” Program which was proposed by Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. President Li spoke highly of the active role UNIDO has played in promoting and accelerating the industrialization progress of the developing countries.
Director General Li Yong briefed the progress of UNIDO, and exchanged views with President Li on the topics of “One Belt and One Road Initiative”, South-South Cooperation and UNIDO’s ISID Partnership Country Program. He expressed expectation of strengthening the relationship and developing extensive cooperation with CPAFFC in the future.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with French Polynesian Government President Edouard FRITCH
On June 2, President Li Xiaolin met with French Polynesian Government President Edouard FRITCH and his delegation.
President Li welcomed the delegation’s first visit to China and told the Mr. FRITCH that French Polynisia left her a deep impression when she visited there in October 2013. She hoped to see that through the visit President FRITCH would further expand cooperation of mutual benefit and wished him a successful visit.
FRITCH expressed his appreciation of the invitation and welcome. After an introduction of the formation of the new government and recent conditions, he stressed his government would continue to promote practical cooperations with China and enhance the friendship between the two peoples.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with U.S. Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland
On June 1st, President Li Xiaolin met with Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland, United States. Yumi Hogan, first lady of Maryland, Secretary of State John Wobensmith of Maryland, and the delegation attended the meeting.
President Li introduced that since the establishment of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC) 61 years ago, the association has been working hard to promote people-people exchanges, including sister city/province relationship and cultural ties, for deeper understanding and cooperation between China and the rest of the world. Nowadays, China-U.S. sub-national cooperation becomes more and more frequent. The two countries have already established 243 pairs of sister provinces/states and cities. President Li also invited Governor Hogan to join the 3rd round of China-U.S.Governor’s Forum, to be held in California later this year, and the photo exhibition commemorating the cooperation history of China and the U.S. during World War II, in Washington, D.C., in June.
Governor Hogan extended his appreciation to President Li’s invitation and said he would be very much like to attend the above activities. He introduced that Maryland is the first American sate to set up a China office. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the sister province/state relationship between Maryland and Anhui and Secretary of State of Maryland would pay another visit to China soon for the commemorative activities. As the new Governor of Maryland, he is committed to strengthening Maryland’s relationship with China, enhancing mutual cooperation in the fields such as politics, economy and trade, education, and building a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
President Li Xiaolin Meets with Former US Congressman Kennedy

On June 1st , President Li Xiaolin held a meeting with former US Congressman Mark Kennedy and the students from George Washington University.
President Li briefed the group about China. The Reform and Opening-up Policy which was adopted more than 30 years ago brought tremendous development to China. But it also resulted in serious problems and challenges such as environmental pollution, imbalanced development and corruption. To combat these problems and ensure a healthy and sustained social and economic growth, the Chinese government has drawn up the strategy of constructing a comprehensive well-off society, deepening the reform and opening up, running the country by law and being strict in Party discipline.
She pointed out that China’s reform propelled the China-US relationship and vice versa. The bilateral relations have become increasingly interconnected. China and the US should not tackle their problems and divergences from the ideological perspectives, rather take the respect to each other’s history, tradition and culture as the precondition and solve the problems through peaceful means of dialogues and consultation. Mutual trust and understanding are critical if we want to push forward a healthy and stable bilateral relationship.
Congressman Kennedy held that China is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. He has been in China for many times. Each time he observed changes of development. The US-China relationship is the most important relationship in the world. The two countries have maintained frequent exchanges at all levels in recent years. People in American are now looking forward to President Xi’s visit later this year. Though the diplomatic ties have been established for 36 years, how to enhance mutual understanding between our two countries remains important and imperative. He hoped that this trip would help the students better understand China.
During the meeting, President Li also exchanged views with the students on the issues such as Chinese culture, status of women in China and international relations.
President Li Xiaolin Meets with Tesla CEO Elon Musk
On May 29, President Li Xiaolin met with Elon Musk, co-founder, CEO and product architect of Tesla Company. The two sides held discussions on Tesla’s development in China, and China-US people-to-people exchanges.?
Li Xiaolin briefed Elon Musk on the CPAFFC’s work of people-to-people diplomacy with the United States. She said that as a world renowned new energy car corporation, Tesla enjoys a promising future in China. She hoped that Tesla will participate in China’s charity programs in areas such as environmental protection and climate change.
Elon Musk thanked Li Xiaolin for her and CPAFFC’s support in Tesla’s development in China. He reiterated that aiming at the long-term development in China, Tesla is willing to expand its investment and cooperation in China and take an active part in US-China people-to-people exchange programs.
President Li Xiaolin Attends 10th Jeju Forum
At the invitation of Chairman Moon Tae-young of Executive Committee of Jeju Forum and Governor Won Heeryong of Jeju-do, a CPAFFC delegation led by President Li paid a visit to Jeju from May 19th to 21st. The delegation attended the opening ceremony of the 10th Jeju Forum, on which Mme. Li was invited to deliver a keynote speech. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former President of Indonesia, Gerhard Schr?der, former Chancellor of Germany, John Howard, former Prime Minister of Australia, Yasuo Fukuda, former Prime Minister of Japan and Joe Clark, former Prime Minister of Australia also addressed the opening ceremony.
During the visit in Jeju, Mme. Li met with Japanese former Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda and Governor Won Heeryong of Jeju respectively. They exchanged views separately on China-Japan relations and people-to-people interactions, and developing friendly cooperation and friendship-city relations between Chinese provinces and cities and Jeju-do.
The 10th Jeju Forum is on theme of Towards a New Asia of Trust and Harmony. More than 3000 delegates around the world attended the Forum.
