President Li Xiaolin Meets with TSUTSUMI TAKAO, Son of the Former President of Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association
President Li Xiaolin met with TSUTSUMI TAKAO, the son of TSUJII TAKASHI, former president of Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association on 17th March, 2015. President Li Xiaolin welcomed TSUTSUMI TAKAO to visit the CPAFFC. She spoke highly of his father, TSUJII TAKASHI, who had been engaged in the cause of friendship between China and Japan during his lifetime, especially had made great contribution to the development of cultural exchange between the two countries. She also hoped that he would follow his father’s footstep to continually play an active role in enhancing the friendship between China and Japan. President Li Xiaolin emphasized that China and Japan are close neighbors. To realize the friendly relationship of the two countries from generation to generation is a common wish. We should fully utilize the non-governmental advantages and strength, to develop the exchanges in various fields, and increasingly enhancing the mutual understanding, and make unremitting efforts to push the relationship of the two countries back on track earlier. TSUTSUMI TAKAO thanked President Li Xiaolin for finding time for the meeting in her tight schedule. He said that his father loved China and Chinese culture very much, and actively involved in the cause of friendship between Japan and China. I was influenced deeply by my father when I was young and had strong interest to China. I would like to follow my father’s step to make efforts on enhancing the feeling of the two countries’ people and developing the relationship between Japan and China. Song Jingwu, the vice president of CPAFFC and Wang Xiuyun, the director-general of the Department of Japanese Affairs of CPAFFC attended the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Irish Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government
On 16th March, President Li Xiaolin met with Mr Alan Kelly, the Irish Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, and the accompanying Irish Ambassador to China, Paul Kavanagh at the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). President Li expressed her warm welcome to Minister Kelly. She introduced the recent work of the CPAFFC, and its contribution to enhancing friendly exchanges and local government cooperation between China and foreign countries in the past 60 years since its founding. She suggested that the two sides should work together to promote experience sharing and people-to-people exchanges between China and Ireland. Minister Kelly introduced the Irish development in the field of environment, technology, resource utilization and local government, and expressed willingness to promote Ireland-China friendly exchanges and practical cooperation. Mr. Song Jingwu, CPAFFC Vice President and Ms. Zhang Ruoning, Deputy Director General of the Department of European and Asian Affairs were present at the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with President of World Energy Forum
President Li Xiaolin met with Dr. Horold Hyunsuk Oh, President of World Energy Forum on 2nd March in Beijing. Dr. Oh introduced that the task of World Energy Forum is to advocate energy and technology cooperation around globe, and invited CPAFFC to cohost 2015 World Energy Forum in China. President Li noted that as a NGO in general consultative status with UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), CPAFFC attaches great importance to multilateral cooperation with international institutions in efforts to promote common development. We hoped the Forum could provide an effective international platform for enterprises and academic institutes home and abroad to exchange new ideas and deepen cooperation. Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of CPAFFC, Mr. Ji Yongjun, Deputy Director General of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs of CPAFFC and Mr. Zhang Dacheng, President of HIT Group were present at the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti
President?Li?Xiaolin?who?was?currently?visiting?the?United?States?paid?a?visit?to?Mayor?of?Los?Angeles?Mr.?Eric?Garcetti at the LA City Hall on 13th February. President Li expressed appreciation to Mayor Garcetti for his support to develop friendly relations with China and for his visit to China soon after his assumption of the post of Los Angeles mayor. Mayor Garcetti said, he had opportunity to visit China on different occasions, and he admired the great achievement China had made since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy. Two sides held an extensive discussion on the future exchange and cooperation between sister cities of our two countries in various fields and climate change.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Governor Jerry Brown
President Li Xiaolin who was currently visiting the United States paid a visit with Mr. Jerry Brown Governor of the State of California at State Capitol building, Sacramento on Feb.11th,2015. President Li expressed her hearty congratulations on Mr. Brown’s successful reelection as the Governor of California, and her wish that Governor Brown would continue to play a positive role in promoting the exchange and cooperation between California and her sister provinces in China, and enhance friendship between the Californians and the Chinese. Governor Brown warmly welcomed President Li’s visit to California. Since California is a major American state to engage with China, he was ready to advance his state’s the mutually beneficial cooperation with China in fields of high-tech innovation, clean energy, education and so on. Governor Brown also said that he could understand the reasons causing the postponement of the 3rd US - China Governor’s Forum last year, and he was willing to work with CPAFFC to ensure that this forum take place successfully in the United States this year. Ambassador Luo Linquan Consul General of Chinese Cousulate General to San Fransisco and Zhang Heqiang Director General of Department of American and Oceanic Affairs were also present at the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Visits Vietnam
At the invitation of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations(VUFO), President Li Xiaolin led a 5-member CPAFFC delegation to visit Vietnam from January 14th to 17th,2015. President Li paid a courtesy call to President Truong Tan Sang of Vietnam, met Mr.Nguyen Thien Nhan, Chairman of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front and Mr.Pham Binh Minh, Vice Premier and Foreign Minister of Vietnam respectively. President Li also had a work meeting with Chairman Vu Xuan Hong of VUFO and attended the celebration activities marking the 65th Anniversary of China-Vietnam Diplomatic Ties hosted by Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and VUFO respectively. President Li paid a field visit to the construction site of the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace which was inspected and managed by VUFO. She also talked with Vietnamese students who were learning Chinese in Hanoi University and witnessed the signing ceremony of China-Vietnam Education Exchange Fund which was raised by Mr.Lam Kin Chung,a CPAFFC specially-invited council member. Mr.Hong Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Vice Chairman of VUFO, accompanied the delegation for the major events.

Before her visit to Vietnam, CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin met with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Ambassador of Vietnam to China, on 9 January 2015. ?President Li said that she is glad to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam. She hoped for more achievements of the development of bilateral relations under the joint efforts of the two sides.? Ambassador Nguyen wished success of President Li’s visit to Vietnam and said that the Embassy of Vietnam in Beijing will continue its close cooperation with CPAFFC for deepening Vietnam-China traditional friendship.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Delegation of EU-China Friendship Group of European Parliament
On Jan. 5th, 2015, President Li Xiaolin met with the delegation of EU-China Friendship Group of European Parliament headed by Chairman Nirj Deva. President Li extended her warm welcome to the delegation. The two parties had an exchange of views on issues of enhancing Eu-China relations, promoting Eu-China people-to-people friendship, encouraging innovation, developing economy and solution of employment problems. Besides, this year is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and EU. The two parties discussed on holding the events celebrating the anniversary. After the meeting, President Li presented the English version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China as gifts to the delegates, for introducing the political ideas and governance strategy of new Chinese leaders. Apart from Beijing, the delegation will visit Guangdong and Hainan province.

President Li Xiaolin Attends Activity in Hubei Marking 35th Anniversary of China-US Diplomatic Relations
On the afternoon of December 15, activity marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Over 70 people, including President Li Xiaolin, Governor Wang Guosheng of Hubei Province, Mr. Melvin Gilroy, President of the Found of Woodcock Legacy, Mr. Joseph Zadrozny, Consul General of U.S. in Wuhan, attended the event. Madam Li said in her remarks that Ping Pong Diplomacy not only drew peoples from both countries closer, but also ushered in a new chapter of improvement and development of China-US relations. Now China and the U.S. are committed to building a new type of major country relations. People-to-people diplomacy will exert great influence on the exchange and cooperation of the two sides. It is hoped that the establishment of the US-China People-to-people Association of Table Tennis will serve as an important bridge to deepen people-people exchanges and contribute to the healthy development of China-US relations. Governor Wang Guosheng said that thanks to the continuous improvement and development of China-US relations, Hubei and the U.S. have deepened their exchanges in such fields as economy and trade, science and technology, education and culture. Hubei province is becoming an important gateway of central China to the United States. It is hoped that the US-China People-to-people Association of Table Tennis could make new contribution to the healthy and stable development of China-US relations, and add new vitality to the friendship between the two peoples. The US-China People-to-people Association of Table Tennis is a non-profit and non-governmental organization which is based in San Francisco. The Foundation of Woodcock Legacy is named after the first US Ambassador to China Leonard Woodcock, whose mission is to promote the cultural, educational and scientific exchanges between China and the U.S. On the morning of December 16, some participants of this event paid a visit to the Li Xian’nian Memorial Garden in Hong’an County, Hubei Province.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair
On December 11, President Li Xiaolin met with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the CPAFFC. President Li Xiaolin introduced the recent major work of the CPAFFC, particularly cooperations between Chinese and foreign local governments, friendship cities, cultural exchanges, the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, as well as work with former US political dignitaries, underlining that exchanges in the fields of local governments and culture should be further developed. Blair introduced the cultural and charity work he himself had been devoted to, spoke highly of the achievements of China’s development, praised the rule of law concept, fully recognized the importance of people-to-people friendship and accomplishments of the CPAFFC, and agreed to promote exchanges and cooperations between China and the UK in various fields together with the CPAFFC. Both sides also exchanged views on topics including China’s development as well as its relations with the world. Mr. Li Jianping, Vice President of the CPAFFC, and Mr. Song Jingwu, Director-General of the European and Asian Affairs Department of the CPAFFC, were present during the meeting.
