On Nov. 6th to 7th, organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Committee of Cooperation of Local Governments of French Foreign Ministry, the 4th High-Level Forum on Cooperation of Chinese-French Local Governments themed Strengthening Innovation and Cooperation, Promoting Urban and Rural Development was held in Region Strasbourg. As one of the important events for commemorating the 50th anniversary of China-French diplomatic ties, this year’s forum was listed in Long-term Plan of Cooperation of China-France Relationship that signed when the Chinese President Xi Jinping visited France in March, 2014. About 800 attendants from over 100 provinces, cities and districts in China and France attended the forum, and held dialogues and seminars on 3 topics of Governance of Urban and Rural Area, Development of Local Economy and Science and Higher Education Serve for Local Development. Besides, the representatives of the Chinese and French business circles attended the forum for entrepreneurs. At the forum, the awarding ceremony for commending the cooperation programs of the Chinese and French local governments, and signing ceremony of cooperation agreement were held. The excellent performance of the art groups from the both countries made the forum even more successful. At the forum, the conclusive document was adopted. The 5th China-French Forum will be held in Chengdu, China.

H.E Mr. Zhang Dejiang, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress (NPC) met with Hon. Mr. Abadulla Gemeda Dago, Speaker of House of People’s Representatives of Ethiopia, who is visiting China at the invitation of CPAFFC on November 6. Zhang said China and Ethiopia enjoyed solid foundation of traditional friendship and the bilateral relations maintained sound development. The Chinese side is willing to uphold the concept of "sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith" proposed by President Xi Jinping to consolidate the practical cooperation between the two countries and deepen the comprehensive cooperation partnership. China’s NPC is ready to cooperate with Ethiopian congress to strengthen ?experience sharing on lawmaking and national governance to create a better legal environment for bilateral economic cooperation,through which to promote the people-to-people cooperation and consolidate the good wishes of the two peoples.? Abadulla said China supported and helped Ethiopia in many fields in its development. Ethiopia wishes to further promote the development of bilateral relations and share China’s experience on lawmaking and national governance. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin, Vice President Feng Zuoku attended the meeting.

On Nov.5th, 2014 CPAFFC Vice President Xie Yuan met with Mr. Fernando Matta, Chairman of Chile-China Culture Institution (CCCI). Vice President Xie Yuan welcomed Chairman Matta for his visit to the CPAFFC as an old friend. He introduced the status of CPAFFC’s recent work and collaboration with Chile. He said, the CPAFFC has always attached great importance to developing the friendly contact and cooperation with Chile. It is expected that the CPAFFC and CCCI could sign a memo for cooperation, to continuously promote the cooperation and creation in fields of culture, art and personnel exchanges. Chairman Matta thanked Vice President Xie Yuan for finding time for the meeting in his tight schedule. He introduced the CCCI’s future work plan on contact between Chile and China. He also requested the CPAFFC to organize delegations of literature and art to visit Chile, so as to further the understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

On Nov. 4th, 2014, Qiangba Puncog Vice-Chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress (NPC) of China met with Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo, President of Committee of Asia-Pacific Foreign Relations of the Mexican Senate who was visiting China at the CPAFFC’s invitation. Xie Yuan, Vice President of CPAFFC attended the meeting. Senator Torres was leading a delegation formed by the officials from the Mexican Senate, Chamber of Deputies, state governments and entrepreneurs, paying a special trip to China to attend the 4th Seminar on Economy and Business of China-Mexico Strategic Partners in 21st Century which is organized by the CPAFFC.

On November 3rd, Vice Premier Ma Kai met Mr.Lee Jae-yong, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Co.,Ltd at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening the cooperation on integrated circuit, power battery of vehicles and so on. On November 3, at the invitation of the Irish Ambassador, Vice President Li Jianping attended the reception that the Irish embassy held for its Trade Mission led by the Irish Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. He met with Minister Coveney and the Irish Ambassador to China, Mr. Kavanagh. They exchanged views on promoting pragmatic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between China and Ireland. Seminar on Economy and Business of China-Mexico Strategic Partners in 21st Century was held in Beijing. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin, Vice President Xie Yuan, Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo, President of Committee of Asia-Pacific Foreign Relations of the Mexican Senate, H.E. Mr. Julian Ventura, the Mexican Ambassador to China, Senator. Lilia Guadalupe Merodio Reza, Secretary-General of the Mexican Senate, Deputy Luis Murguia, Secretary-General of Committee on Industry, Manufacturing and Maquiladora of Chamber of Deputies, the persons in charge of The Export-Import Bank of China, China Federation of Industrial Economics, China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector, and the Chinese and Mexican enterprises attended the seminar. President Li made the keynote speech at the opening ceremony and met with the major Mexican guests before the seminar.

At the invitation of CPAFFC, Mr. Kim Sungyup, ex-Council Member of the Korean Foundation, led a 120-member delegation of the Republic of Korea Young Friendship Envoys and paid a visit to Beijing, Hebei and Zhejiang in China from 26 October to 2 November 2014.? The delegation consisted of entrepreneurs, artists, deaf-mutes and middle school students. Vice President Hu Sishe of CPAFFC, Vice Governor Qin Boyong of Hebei Province, President Yang Quanshe and Executive Vice President Ye Changqing of Hebei Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Vice Mayor Yan Liying of Baoding city, and Executive Vice President Chen Aizhen of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries respectively met with for the ROK delegation. Under the theme of “Journey of the Romance of Three Kingdoms”, the delegation visited San Yi Palace where the story of “taking pledge of brotherhood in peach garden” took place, Temple of Zhao Yun and the home village of Sun Quan. At the invitation of the CPAFFC, a delegation from the Association for Sri Lanka China Social and Cultural Cooperation headed by its President Mr. Indrananda Abeysekera visited Beijing and Shandong Province between 24th and 29th October.? In Beijing, Vice President Hu Sishe of the CPAFFC met with the delegation and exchanged views about the implementation of Sri Lanka China people-to-people exchange programs that were initiated during Hu’s visit to Sri Lanka earlier this June. Issues regarding the Third China South Asia Friendship Organizations’ Forum to be held in Sri Lanka in 2015 were also discussed at the meeting. In Shandong, Executive Vice President Mr. Zhang Jigang of the Shandong People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries met with the delegation and signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Strengthening Friendship & Cooperation Between Association for Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation and Shandong People''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
