On the afternoon of May 30, the Chinese People''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) jointly held an opening ceremony for the Photo Exhibition on China-US Relations to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Nixon''s visit to China and the 39th anniversary of the performance tour of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra in China. Chen Haosu, former President of the CPAFFC, Chan Ping, Vice Chairman of the Beijing People''s Political Consultative Conference and President of the NCPA, Nicholas Platt, Honorary President of the Asia Society, and Thomas F. Skipper, Minister Counsellor of the U.S. Embassy in China, attended the ceremony.
On the evening of May 31, Chen Haosu enjoyed the first concert of the Philadelphia Orchestra at the NCPA.
The exhibition will be on display at the Shanghai Grand Theatre, together with the Philadelphia Orchestra on its tour in China.
